Filters

Pool Spa Outpost carries swimming pool filters, filter canisters, filter cartridges and filter parts for in-ground and above ground pools.  Depending on your pool size, you will either have a D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth) filter, a sand filter or a cartridge filter. The size of the filter also matters, since you want to have a filter big enough for your pool. There are many major brands of pool filter manufacturers, like Jacuzzi, Reemay, Unicel, Hayward, Filbur, Pleatco, Pentair, Intex, FNS, Swimline and Sta-Rite.

D.E. filters are the most efficient pool filters, being able to trap particles as small as 3-5 microns. Sand filters require the least maintenance.  Cartridge filters are becoming more popular again, but they need to be removed and hosed to clean when the pressure gauge rises 8 to 10 pounds above its clean reading.  Most pool cartridges need to be replaced every 3-5 years, sooner if your pool has lots of debris, dirt or algae.  Sand and D.E. filters need replacement only after a decade or longer, but often need repair parts like O-rings, clamps, gaskets or other filter parts.
